Lords in revolt over Tory plan to turn all failing schools into academies | UK Politics | News | The Independent

Controversial Tory plans to turn all failing schools into academies, regardless of the views of parents and teachers, are set to be blocked by peers this week, signalling a fresh row between the Government and the House of Lords. Under new government proposals, which have been signed off by MPs and are to be debated in the Lords on 9 December, all schools face “automatic academisation” if they are rated “inadequate” by Ofsted inspectors.

And the militant Lords strike again. They don’t like Cameron giving power to the people by taking away their right to have a say over their local school.

Seems the Tory way of increasing democracy by pulling power back to Westminster may have been rumbled by the ermine clad militants.

  1. Of course.
A failing school that is not state controlled is not a failure of the system, just a failing of the staff.
One less to worry about when they lie and say “our state run education system works”.
